The Challenge

Tasked with creating a memorable and immersive evening for the LIBIN Cardiovascular Institute, we were challenged to design a bespoke entertainment experience. The objective was to seamlessly integrate diverse performers, including A cappella singers, urban dancers, musicians, a spoken word artist, and circus performers. Every element needed to support the theme of hope and resilience, symbolized by the phrase: "The Beat Goes On."

The Concept

Inspired by the concept of "Light" as a representation of hope, our creative vision highlighted the transformative power of care and research. Through intentional use of projection mapping, lighting effects, and dynamic performances, we told the story of a patient’s journey from diagnosis to recovery. The gala became a vibrant visual and emotional experience, reminding attendees of the LIBIN Institute’s impact.

The Experience

Welcome & Immersive Pre-Function Experience

Guests were greeted with mesmerizing visuals of light created through projection, video content, and special lighting effects.
Shadow effects introduced dancers as they interacted with pulsating EKG visuals, synchronized to create a sense of the heart’s rhythmic pulse.
Vivid projections of vascular imagery, including pumping hearts and intricate veins, brought the science of cardiovascular care to life.
Dancers were seamlessly infused into the video images, softening the scientific visuals with human expression.

Ballroom Transition

A Cappella singers emerged from the shadows, leading guests into the ballroom with harmonic vocals.
The transition from darkness to light was marked by an emotive spoken word and dance piece that portrayed a patient’s journey.
The pre-recorded spoken word narration, based on real patient stories, was accompanied by live music and dance.
Quotes from patients were displayed on screen, emphasizing personal experiences and reflections on the impact of LIBIN’s care.

Illuminating Hope

A solo singer performed alongside a pianist, symbolically transferring light to the piano as it grew brighter.
Cirque-style acts represented the powerful connection between research and critical care, visually transferring light from one act to the next.
The evening’s finale brought the concept to its peak, as the performer’s light extended across the darkened ballroom, igniting table centerpieces to celebrate the donors whose contributions keep the light of hope alive.

After-Party Transition

A striking violin duo signaled the shift to the after-party, with one violinist shadowed on the screen while the other performed live on the event floor.
Through shadow effects and lighting transitions, the party band emerged in stages, gradually illuminating the room with energy and anticipation.
Before the band’s second set, a poet laureate delivered a live tribute to healthcare professionals, acknowledging their dedication during the pandemic. The emotional performance seamlessly transitioned into the band’s vibrant return.

The LIBIN Cardiovascular Institute Gala was a powerful celebration of resilience, care, and community. Guests left with a deeper understanding of the Institute's mission and the ongoing impact of their research and critical care. Through seamless integration of art and storytelling, we created an unforgettable evening where "The Beat Goes On."
