Making Waves

Making Waves

THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE WAVES

Using talent strategically, this production involved the carefully planned use of Alberta Ballet, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD) dancers, live and pre-recorded music, poets, and Jann Arden!

To satisfy a last minute request from the client, we cooked up a short burst of entertainment to start off the night, with the help of Alberta Ballet. Working with some of their existing choreography we created the perfect mood setter for guests to enjoy a start-of-the-night cocktail.

Then, to bring guests into the main room we created a large silk funnel with the help of Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. Yup, a silk funnel. It was our creative way to bring people into the main space where the live band was playing. Here we were fluid both in time and in movement, with music and dancing adapting to the length of time it took people to filter in.

These ropes weren’t your gym class variety. We specially ordered them for our cirque performers. Too bad they were delayed, re-ordered, and received only days before the event! Because we work with professional talent, we were able to get choreography and routines rehearsed in a short time, without the quality of the performance being affected. Now that’s tight!

From a versatile 12-piece band who kept the party moving, to a standout performance from Canada’s Jann Arden, to World Wide Vibe, our after party band – the multiple set ups were launched seamlessly while the energy was kept at a perfect level throughout the night.

Each piece of the puzzle came with its own considerations, and needed to be executed seamlessly so that the whole thing came together without any visible issues.

WHAT MADE IT AMAZING?

The content for the chiffon dance number was shot underwater at the SAIT pool.
